Use the PC GUI Software to Test SM5100B GPRS/GSM Module

SM5100B GSM/GPRS is a tiny, four band GSM 850/EGSM 900/DCS1800/PCS 1900 module.  It can be used to add GSM/GPRS function to embedded applications.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_tour][vc_tab title=”Parts List” tab_id=”1395997216-1-23″][vc_column_text]

  1. 1 x Four band cellular antenna
  2. 1 x Motherboard for SM5100B
  3. 1 x USB  Serial cable
  4. 1 x SM1500B  module
  5. 1 x SIM card

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Download Software” tab_id=”1395997216-2-34″][vc_column_text]Click to download DTU_tool_setup[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Hardware Installation” tab_id=”1395998494843-2-8″][vc_column_text]Install SM5100B module on the SM5100B motherboard, and connect the serial port to PC using the USB serial port. Install the SIM card, and supply 9V power rated at 2A  to the motherboard.

2. Click  “open”, click “Send Data “to start sending AT commands to test SM5100B.

3. Send AT, the screen returns to OK. That is  module has started communicating.

4.send AT+CSQ to check the signal strength

Back to 16,99OK

The 16 is  signal strength, in 0 ~ 31 range

99 invalid value, GSM

5 check the GPRS service

Attach GPRS service:

Send AT+CGATT=?

Back to the (0,1) OK

Send AT+CGATT?

Back to 1OK

Note: here to send AT+CGATT? back to 0 ,OK just because we  use the test card,there is no money in the card.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][/vc_tour][/vc_column][/vc_row]
