Gameduino Shield Quick Test

Posted by: admin , January 6, 2014

In this post, we are going to show how to do a quick test of Gameduino Shield for Arduino.

We first install gameduino on an Arduino UNO, and connect the VGA cable  from monitor to the VGA port of gameduino.

gameduino_setup_1

The sample code provided can only be compiled on Arduino IDE 023 and below, not later than Arduino 1.0. So we will use Arduino IDE 023. Please download the sample code from: http://dlnmh9ip6v2uc.cloudfront.net/datasheets/Dev/Arduino/Shields/Gameduino.zip, unzip and put it under arduino-0023\libraries:

Launch Arduino IDE, and select correct samples as following:

gameduino_IDE

After we compile and load to Arduino, we will see chassboard image on the monitor!

gameduino_setup_2

If there is no chessboard image on the monitor, it could be that the xilinx bit file was not loaded, or corrupted.

Note: the LEDs on the gameduino shield will NOT be on all the time.
