Normally we will create a production SD using PhoenixCard and using SD card to flash the kernel image. In this tutorial, we will show how to use PhoenixSuit to flash new image to pcDuino3.
pcDuino3 requires PhoenixSuit version 1.0.6 to flash the kernel image through pcDuino3’s USB OTG port. We need to download PhoenixSuit and install it first. During the installation, the software will prompt for if the driver is needed or not. Please always click ‘Yes’. Once it is done, we can open the tool as below:
At this point, we will power pcDuino3 through the regular DC power microUSB port, and connect pcDuino3’s USB OTG port to the host PC where the PhoenixSuit is running. Browse to where the kernel image is located:
It may ask you to upgrade the PhoenixSuit software. Please don’t do that.
We press the ‘Upgrade’ button on pcDuno3 and at the same time, hit the ‘Reset’ button to reset pcDuino3, PhoneixSuit will do a force upgrade of pcDuino3 with the new kernel image we just provided.
Once the kernel is done, we need to supply a USB driver loaded with the rootfs into the USB host port of pcDuino3 to finish the installation of Ubuntu file system.
