Reading Distance of Cottonwood: the UHF RFID Reader Module

Posted by: admin , February 15, 2014

Many users are asking what is the reading distance of cottonwood, the UHF RFID reader module. Actually, cottonwood is just a reader module without antenna. The reading distance really depends on the antenna that we are going to use with the antenna.

Right now, there are three types of antenna that can be used with Cottonwood:

1. 5dBi PCB UHF RFID 902-928M Antenna 5cm x 5cm:

When we use this type of antenna, the effective reading distance we obtained is around 0.5 meter to 1 meter.

2. UHF RFID Reader Antenna (902-928MHz, 8dBi RHC Pol)

When we use this type of antenna, the reading distance is around 3-4 meters.

3.  UHF RFID Reader Antenna (902-928MHz, 8dBic LHC Pol)

When we use this type of antenna, the reading distance is around 4 meters to 5 meters.
