How to Flash Serial Basic 16×2 Character LCD – Black on Green 5V (UART)

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The serial UART 16×2 LCD allows you to control a parallel based LCD over a single-wire serial interface. The serial LCD takes care of all the HD44780 commands allowing seamless integration with any micro that can communicate over a wide range of TTL serial baud rates. In this post, we will explain how to flash the firmware to the pic MCU on the module.

  1. 1 x PICKIT 3  Programmer
  2. [bigcommerce link=”/serial-basic-16×2-character-lcd-black-on-green-5v-uart/” target=”_blank”]Serial LCD 1602[/bigcommerce] *1
  3. Several jumper wire

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][vc_tab title=”Install the software” tab_id=”1395581515-2-98″][vc_column_text]1. Install  PICKIT 3 driver software 

PICkit_3_

After installed, find C:/Program Files/Microchip/PICkit3/PICkit 3.exe, as shown:

Open it

If you did not connect PICKIT 3, the interface is grey. Connecting PICKIT 3 with PC by USB cable, then you can choose the interface.

Note: Connecting first then open the software

You need to choose the chip here, the P/N is PIC16F88 which we used.

2. Import the code

serLCD

As shown:

Find serLCD folder, open图片7,  and set Target Power on

The characters will only stay for a while, if you want to re-look again, removal of 5V ON.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tab][/vc_tour][/vc_column][/vc_row]
