LinkSprite Canyonlands is an Intel Atom Z3735F Quad computer. It defaults with a Windows 8 operation system. We follow the post at CNXsoft to install the Ubuntu OS on it. In this post, we detailed the steps that we used.

First, Idownload and flash ubuntu-14.04.3-desktop-linuxium.iso to a USB drive with ‘Rufus’ in Windows or ‘dd’ in Linux. Insert the USB flash drive in your device,

and press F7 in order to select the mass storage device to boot to

Select ‘Try Ubuntu without installing’

Click ‘install ubuntu 14.04’

After the installation is done, please do not hit the ‘reset now’ button. Leave it untouched.

Download linuxium-32bit-patch.sh right after installation is complete, and before rebooting. This is to enable booting after installation. Put this script on another USB dongle, and copy to the home directory:

Execute the script:

When it is done, click the ‘restart now button’. NOTE: please don’t power cycle, you must hit this ‘restart now button”:

After a while, it will prompt:

Remove both USB dongle, the Ubuntu will up and running.
