It’s not recommended to install Processing 2.2 from the source files. It’s really complicated through that route.

1. Install oracle-java7-jdk.

Go to website of oracle (http://www.oracle.com/index.html) to download the install package jdk-7u60-linux-arm-vfp-hflt.tar, and copy jdk7 under lib:

$sudo cp jdk-7u60-linux-arm-vfp-hflt.tar.gz  /usr/lib/jvm/

2.Enter directory ‘lib’, and unzip:

$cd /usr/lib/jvm/

$tar xvf  jdk-7u60-linux-arm-vfp-hflt.tar.gz

3. Set environment:

$vim  /etc/profile

export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_60
export JRE_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_60/jre
 
export CLASSPATH=.:$JAVA_HOME/lib:$JRE_HOME/lib:$CLASSPATH
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$JRE_HOME/bin:$PAT

4. Make the environment variables valid

$source /etc/profile

5. Check if Java is installed successfully

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ java -version
java version “1.7.0_60″
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_60-b19)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 24.60-b09, mixed mode)

6. Download processing-2.2.1-linux32.tgz

$wget  http://download.processing.org/processing-2.2.1-linux32.tgz

7. Unzip processing-2.2.1-linux32.tgz

$tar xvf processing-2.2.1-linux32.tgz

8. Replace the Java of x86 with Java of ARM

$cd  processing-2.2.1

$rm java -rf

$ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_60/      jave

9. Download Java Simple Serial connector

$ wget https://github.com/scream3r/java-simple-serial-connector/releases/download/v2.8.0/jSSC-2.8.0-Release.zip

10. Unzip Java Simple Serial connector

$unzip jSSC-2.8.0-Release.zip

11. Copy jSSC to processing

$cp jSSC-2.8.0-Release/jssc.jar processing-2.2.1/modes/java/libraries/serial/library/

Till now, we finished the installation of processing 2.2.1.. Let’s give it a try:

$./processing
